There is a lot of anticipation ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix, as the top three drivers in the 2025 season all fight for the World Championship.

Lando Norris is in a position where, if he wins this race, he will be world champion. Norris leads the standings with 396 points. Not far behind him is his teammate, Oscar Piastri, with 374 points, and Max Verstappen with 371, meaning both drivers still have a good chance of taking the title and making it a hard fight for Norris.

Coming out of Qualifying, Lando Norris starts in second for the Qatar Grand Prix, right behind is Verstappen, and in pole position is Piastri.

Race Highlights:

At lights out, Piastri was able to pull away and hold a first-place position for the majority of the race. Max Verstappen sneaked past Norris to secure second at the start of the race; however, Norris reclaimed that place soon after.

Piastri quickly gained a significant lead ahead of Norris and Verstappen, making it hard for Norris to overtake and claim the world championship.

With 10 laps left in the race, Norris falls back in fifth after a pit stop and fights to overtake Antonelli in Mercedes. Piastri falls into second after a pit stop, letting Verstappen take the lead. Carlos Sainz made his way up to third, holding off both Mercedes and McLaren.

Five laps left, Norris fights with Antionelli, making the gap smaller and smaller. Piastri is still in second; however, he can't seem to find the pace to catch Verstappen.

With two laps left, Verstappen, Piastri and Sainz hold first, second and third. On the final lap, Norris passes Antonelli, gaining him two precious points.

Final Standings:

Max Verstappen wins the Qatar Grand Prix, earning 25 points. Piastri finishes in second, earning 18 points, and Carlos Sainz finished in third, earning 15 points as well. An excellent race for Carlos Sainz and Williams!

Going into Abu Dhabi, Norris still leads with 408 points, Verstappen is in second with 396, and Oscar Piastri is now in third with 392.

Today could have been McLaren's day, but they could not get their racing strategy right, and for that, they now pay the price.

The 2025 F1 season is not over yet, and the world championship will be determined next week in Abu Dhabi with the stakes higher than ever.
