On September 7th, Formula 1 returned to Monza, one of the most iconic and historic circuits on the calendar. Known as the Temple of Speed, Monza is the fastest track in F1, with cars pushing over 350 km/h down the long straights.

It’s a circuit that demands pure engine power, precise late braking and confidence from the drivers.

In 2024, Ferrari delivered a dream 1-2 finish on home soil, but this year, while both Scuderia drivers finished in the points, the podium belonged to others as Ferrari fell short of repeating last year’s triumph.

Qualifying:

Qualifying this year set the stage for a thrilling race, with Max Verstappen securing pole position ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. With three of the sport’s most in-form drivers locking out the top spots, anticipation was high for Sunday’s showdown.

Both Ferrari drivers were able to secure in the top ten for qualifying, earning fourth and fifth place, putting the drivers in a good position for a possible podium.

Sunday's Race:

The race began as Verstappen and Norris immediately went wheel-to-wheel into Turn 1. Verstappen briefly ran off the track but rejoined ahead, forcing him to give the lead back to Norris. Behind them, Piastri and Leclerc fought fiercely for third, adding to the early intensity.

By lap 4, Verstappen reclaimed the lead with a decisive move on Norris and never looked back. The Dutchman controlled the pace from the front, while Norris and Piastri kept pressure but ultimately couldn’t match Verstappen's dominance.

When the checkered flag fell, Verstappen secured victory at Monza, setting a historic milestone: the fastest Grand Prix in Formula 1 history, with an average speed of 250 km/h and a total race time of just 1:13:24. The record, once held by Michael Schumacher for Ferrari in 2003, now belonged to Verstappen.

Both McLaren drivers secured 2nd and 3rd, making it another great day for McLaren's lead in the constructors' championship.

It was a glorious day for Red Bull and McLaren, both celebrating podium success. At the same time, other drivers such as Alex Albon, Isack Hadjar, and Gabriel Bortoleto delivered standout performances to finish inside the top 10 — crucial points for their teams.

This landmark race didn’t just crown Verstappen; it further cemented Monza’s legacy as the Temple of Speed, a stage where Formula 1’s greatest feats of performance are etched into history.
